Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

"As educators, it’s our role to provide children with the tools to explore, solve problems, and build a strong foundation for their future. "

My journey in early learning began in 1999, driven by the natural connection I felt with children. My high school volunteer placement in early childhood education cemented my passion, and I’ve loved every part of this profession since then. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed creating warm, engaging environments as a room leader and later progressing into roles that have deepened my commitment to early learning and development.
What I’ve learned from children is that each one is wonderfully unique, with their own pace of growth and learning. As educators, it’s our role to provide them with the tools to explore, solve problems, and build a strong foundation for their future. I love engaging with children on their level, hearing their stories, and fostering their excitement about learning. This fuels my drive to inspire both the children and my team every day.
At Kool Kids Helensvale, we have a passionate, committed team, with many long-standing educators who share the joy of nurturing young minds. Since joining the centre, I’ve been focused on building strong, trusting relationships with families. Open communication is key, and I make myself available to address any questions and support our families. I’m proud of the strong, beautiful community we’re building here, giving children a loving and empowering place to grow.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Helensvale early education centre.

## Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Helensvale, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

#### Sustainability

We actively involve the children in recycling initiatives, maintaining a worm farm, and composting kitchen waste to reduce our environmental footprint. We focus on recycling paper, minimising plastic use, reducing laminating, and utilising natural resources whenever possible, teaching children the importance of caring for our planet.

#### Community engagement

Our children actively participate in the local community, going on excursions to places like the local library, supermarket, fire station, and vet clinic. We also have excursions to our local Library and local primary school, Helensvale State School, to assist our kindergarten children with their transition to school. Many families visit our centre to share their culture, careers, or skills. We also welcome community guests such as vets, scientists, and dentists for incursions.

#### STEM

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

#### Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

I enrolled my 10-month-old at Kool Kids Helensvale last month after an extensive search for the right daycare, and I can honestly say that no other centre in the area compared to the warm, loving atmosphere here.

The facilities are excellent, but what matters most to me is knowing that my baby is cared for by people who genuinely love their work and want to be there. Every day, we are warmly greeted by the educators, and they all already know my baby by name.

My baby is also a picky eater, and the chef went above and beyond by ordering special ingredients for her. The team truly makes an effort to understand and cater to each child’s individual needs while creating a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment.

I feel very reassured leaving my baby in their care and would highly recommend Kool Kids Helensvale!

I highly recommend Kool Kids Helensvale. We did tours of 4 daycares in Helensvale and Kool Kids Helensvale was our pick! We had recently taken our daughter out of her previous daycare, which she had attended her whole upbringing, from 4 months old (she’s now 3). We had to change due to moving. The transition for my daughter was extremely hard and emotional being so young, but the manager Katrina and all the educators at Kool kids were absolutely amazing, caring, supportive and so accomodating towards my daughter as she settled in! The centre is so professional, the education and activities for the children are very advanced! The centre manager Katrina is so friendly, approachable and lovely. I have found that the educators at this centre just love the children unconditionally, so caring, so compassionate, professional, supportive and all VERY experienced. I could not recommend Kool kids Helensvale more! Very accommodating to all families! Shout out to Miss Rachel, Miss Ray Ray, Miss Sally and Miss Aimee who are absolute super stars, thanks for making our baby girl feel so welcome and the transition so easy! 🩷

He was more than ready to go off to big school at the start of this year with all the help and preparation provided in his Kindy class and even now he still asks to stop in at Kool Kids to say Hi and update them all on how fun school is!

## Frequently asked questions

##

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. [Click here to book a tour online.](/book-a-tour)

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

##

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

[Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.](/family-information/how-to-enrol)

##

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

[Learn more about our Settling-in Program.](/family-information/settling-in-program)

##

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

##

Kool Kids uses Xplor Home as our [family communication app](/family-information/family-communication). It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

##

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Kool Kids is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
